Age 92, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. Born in Guysborough Intervale, she was the daughter of the late John Knocton and the late Cora Hampton. Annie started working at an early age. She worked at the School for the Blind during the early years of WWII. She met Joe during this time and they married in 1946. They moved to Cheticamp where she lived for 72 years and raised her family. She enjoyed dancing with Joe at the local legion. She worked at various places, including The Acadian Inn, Robins Jones Store, and retired as supervisor and head cook at the Foyer Père Fiset. She was proud that she learned to speak, write, and read French. She enjoyed playing her mouth organ and juice harp. She loved to play bingo, cards(45) , crosswords and cryptoquotes. She was an avid Blue Jays Fan, watched golf, loved to garden and feed the birds. She was an avid walker. Her family and friends were her pride and joy. She will be missed, but forever in our hearts. She is survived by two sons Stephen P. Roach (Lethbridge, Alberta); Brian J. Roach (Patricia), Cheticamp, two daughters Juanita (Ernie) LeBlanc, East Margaree; Lorraine(Paul) Munce, Huntsville, Ont.; daughter-in-Law, Victorine Roach and special family friend, Lexie MacNeil. She is also survived by sister, Elisabeth(Gerald) Lawlord, Antigonish; and 7 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph P.M. Roach; son, Kevin J. Roach; brothers, Joe Knocton and Charlie Knocton; and sister, Mary Delorey. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Cheticamp Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held in Église St. Pierre, Cheticamp on Monday, February 18, at 10:30 a.m., with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating. Burial in parish cemetery at a later date.
