Our mom passed away very peacefully at the ripe young age of 97, on July 9, 2019 in Oddfellows Nursing Home, Pictou, with loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late John à Stanislaus and Josephine (Boudreau) LeFort.
Born in Cheticamp, she lived most of her married life in Point Cross and then moved to the Cheticamp Senior Apartments until February, 2018 when she moved to Pictou.
Our mom was a life-time member of Les Dames de Ste. Anne, Cheticamp. During her long life, mom had a special passion for berry picking. She could spend hours in the fields losing all track of time. She was also a wonderful cook and baker of French Acadian dishes such as fricots and meatpies. She also hooked Cheticamp Acadian rugs for many years.
In her recent years, she loved her rocking chair to pray and sing old Acadian French songs. She also had a great faith in St. Anthony and good St.Anne. She cherished the three pilgrimages that she took to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, the last one being during her 90th birthday.
Our mom wants to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Marcel AuCoin, Cheticamp and Dr. Randy Burill, Pictou for their great loving care over the years.
Last but not least, mom found love and ultimate peace and comfort in her new home in Pictou. She wants to thank each and everyone from the bottom of her heart for their tender and compassionate care each and every single day.
She is survived by daughters, Jeannette Beaver, Sydney, and Sylvia (Francis) Bonaparte, Pictou; sons, Ephraim Chiasson, Grand Etang, and Maurice (Lily) Chiasson, Charlottetown; grandchildren, Robert (Barb) AuCoin, Charles (Robin) Beaver, Harold (Pam) Beaver, Nicolle Chiasson, Bradley (Marie) Bonaparte, Colin Bonaparte, Amanda Bonaparte (Wil Gamble), Laura (Kate) Collinet, Kathie Chiasson, and Paul Chiasson; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Deveaux, Cheticamp, and special friends, Edith and Victorine.
