Passed away peacefully on January 14, 2019 after a very short stay in hospital surrounded by family and friends and his wonderful caregiver of 3 ½ years, Rosine White by his side. Miles was born September 11, 1923 in Cap Le Moyne, Inverness Co. He is survived by his sister Lucy Piche and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dedier and Marie (Aucoin) Delaney; his wife, Joan; his daughter, Michele. He was also predeceased by brothers; Samuel and Willie Joe; sisters, Annie Rose Klein, Rita Deveaux, Margaret MacPherson and Bernadette Buckles. Miles was a veteran of the Second World War, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 3850, Chéticamp and a member of the Canadian Legion, Branch# 32, Chéticamp. He spent most of his life in Whitby, Ontario as an iron worker. In 2002 he moved to Cape Breton and enjoyed the next years travelling to Florida in the winter months. Miles had many relatives and friends located throughout Canada whom he never forgot and visited whenever there was an occasion. He travelled to Ireland in search of his Irish ancestors and while there kissed the Blarney Stone which, he was quite proud of. Miles spent many beautiful days playing golf at Le Portage Golf Course in Chéticamp. He did lots of walking, dancing, playing cards and just enjoying life with his friends. Following a stroke many of his friends continued the tradition of cards, “kitchen parties” and birthday parties which he so enjoyed at his family home. Special thank-you to the staff of Sacred Heart Hospital, EHS and above all the wonderful care of the Inverness County Homecare workers and special caregivers who attended to Miles, so he was able to spend, in comfort of the home, in which he was born. Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph du Moine Church, St. Joseph du Moine at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 19th, 2019 with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating. A reception will follow at the St. Joseph du Moine Firehall. A celebration of Miles’ life will take place at the Canadian Legion in Chéticamp this summer. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Legion in Chéticamp, Branch #32. Funeral is under the direction of Cheticamp Funeral Services Ltd.
