Age 67, of East Margaree, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026 in the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp surrounded by his family, after a long battle with COPD. Bernie was born on September 30, 1958. He was a son of the late Joseph F. and the late Annie Mae (LeBlanc) Cormier.
Bernie worked as a mason helper with his uncle Mose. He was a lumberman, and also worked in shipping and receiving for Armor Trucking. Bernie loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
Bernie is survived by his sisters, Lorraine Cormier-LeBlanc (Wilfred), Germaine Cormier (Alphonse “Al”), Yvonne Harris (Russ), and Delina Siddall (Mark); brothers, Lionel (Beatrice), and Clarence (Paula).
Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by the loves of his life, his daughters, Angela and Trina; his sister, Pauline (late David); and his brothers, Armand (Josephine), and Marcel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 in St. Michael’s Church, Margaree from 10 am until time of funeral mass at 11 am with Father David Rankin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Cheticamp where he will be laid to rest with his daughters.
In lieu of flowers, family request that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and/or the Lung Association in your area.
