Bernie Muise

Age 74, Cheticamp   It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Bernie, surrounded by family, on February 14th, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. He was born on May 25th, 1950 to the late Denis and the late Marie Louise (Boudreau) Muise.

Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his brother Roger. Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sylvia (Roach) Muise; sons, Kirk Muise, Keith (Kelsey) Muise, and Glen (Myra) Muise; his most beloved grandchildren, Mario, Janelle, Dominic, and Luc; sister, Claudette Gaudet, Thelma (Patrice) Poirier, Diane Poirier, and Paulette (Andrew) Deveaux; brothers, Simon Pierre (Ethel) Muise, Aurel Muise and Gérald Muise; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and godchild, Guy Gaudet.

Bernie was a proud member of the Boilermakers’ Union, Local 73, for 53 years. Thirty-five years ago, an industrial accident left him seriously injured and unable to return to work.

Bernie loved to travel to Montreal, St. John’s, Moncton, and Halifax, to visit with family. He also enjoyed outings to the restaurant with family. He will be remembered for his love of cars, especially antique cars. He owned one that we nicknamed the “Bat Mobile.” Having recently moved into an apartment, he was quite happy to have a carwash nearby. He was a loyal customer of the “Chronicle Herald,” family and friends would deliver a copy 2-3 times per week, whenever travelling outside the community.

Bernie greatly appreciated family and friends’ visits during his three month stay at the hospital. A sincere thank you for the wonderful care he received by the staff at the hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Amélie Maillet for accompanying us every step of the way in his final journey. We will forever be grateful for her kind demeanor, patience, and sense of empathy.

A memorial service for Bernie will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Hospital Charitable Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
