Blair Pettipas

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Blair Pettipas, 61, of Cheticamp, NS on December 6th, 2022 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp, surrounded by his loved ones. Blair was born on February 21st, 1961 in Halifax, NS to the late Marie Muise and the late Francis Pettipas, and predeceased by his step-father Cyril Larade (Clara).

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; and his two children, who he adored, Darren (Taylor) and Daphne (Antwon); his dear Sharlene; as well as his absolute greatest pride and joy, his grandchildren, Blair-Marie, Roman and Beau, and Dawson, Cole, Hudson and Marlee. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Debbie Cormier (Vincent); his two nieces that he cherished beyond words, Monica Leblanc (Danny) and Colleen Cormier (Kyle); and his two great-nephews, Nolan and Rylan.

Blair’s strength and stubbornness were a force to be reckoned with. His determination helped him battle several storms over time both on land, in the hospital, and in his captain’s chair riding the waves in Zone 12F. An avid Boston Bruins fan, his temper was often tested by both their results in gameplay along with the outcomes of his prolines, but he always remained faithful nonetheless. Blair was very loyal to his family – there was truly no place he would rather be than surrounded by the kids, watching them race around the yard, filled with laughter at the house. His door was always open – no one ever left without a full belly or without feeling truly at home. He was very generous, mindful, and always had practical advice for everyone, whether they wanted to hear it or not. He had a special place in his heart for his friends and the ‘golden girls’ and was never short of a critique but was always filled with pride over his friends and family while ensuring that everything was ‘nothing but the best’. He truly treasured the memories he made in Fort Myers, at the Cottage in Chester, in New Jersey, at the TD Garden in Boston, and he was extremely grateful for everything he was able to accomplish after putting in years of hard work, leaving behind a legacy for his family.

We – Brenda, Darren, and Daphne – would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to both Dr. Amelie Maillet and the staff at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp as well as Melissa and Melinda, and the whole team at the Inverness Consolidated Hospital Cancer Clinic for caring and loving our father as much as we did. We will be forever grateful.

As Blair said,  ‘The show must go on….take care of each other.’
