It is with deep sadness, that the family of Casilda Aucoin, age 81, announce her peaceful passing on September 12, 2021 at the Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp.
Born in Cheticamp, she was the daughter of the late Philip and the late Katie May (Haché) Doucet. Casilda is survived by her 4 children, Cleophas Aucoin, Helena Burke (Louis), Dorina Aucoin (Roger), and Nicole Aucoin (Pat); grandchildren, Adam (Angie), Makayla, and Bryann; great-grandchildren, Evella and Declan, who were all her pride and joy; brothers, Roland (Germaine), and Willie Dave (Rose Mary); sisters, Marie Emma and Goretti (Alphonse).
Besides her husband Ervin Aucoin, she was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Cusack.
Casilda was the proud owner of the Restaurant Evangeline for 44 years, where she enjoyed working tirelessly with her numerous staff members and serving her community in ways no one will ever know.
We, the family, would like to extend a special recognition and thank you to a very special lady, Zabeth Deveaux, who cherished our Mom. The unconditional Love and Friendship that Zabeth had for our Mom will never be forgotten. Zabeth… UN GROS MERCI!!
We would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre and the staff at the Foyer Père Fiset, for the exceptional care of our beloved Mom. Also, to Father Bedford Doucet, 1st cousin to our mom, for celebrating at the funeral mass.
A funeral mass will be held in l’Église St. Pierre, on October 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Father Bedford Doucet officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to The Foyer Père Fiset or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

There are some people who have an impact on everyone in their lives, and Casilda was one of these people. Never a harsh word, she embraced everyone she met. I had the privilege of having her in my life for almost 40 years and I will cherish all the memories I have of her, especially the endless support and advice she offered to me over the years. My deepest sympathies to all her children, grandchildren, siblings and beloved friends. She will be missed deeply.
