Delia Hélène Deveau

Age 96 of Grand Étang, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at Centre de Santé Communautaire Sacré-Cœur, Chéticamp. She was the daughter of the late Daniel (Dan à Paddé) Delaney and the late Marie (Poirier) Delaney. Delia is survived by her son, Gilles (Neala Gill), Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Fidèle Deveau; sister, Marie-Louise Cormier; and brothers, Alec Delaney and Joseph Delaney.

Delia led a simple but full life.  She enjoyed playing piano, tending to her vegetable garden and hooking wool and rag rugs in the Cheticamp style. She proudly lived independently – including planting her own garden – until this past summer.  Many thanks to Drs. Amelie Maillet and Kassandra Sonier, staff at Centre de Santé Communautaire Sacré-Cœur and home care for caring for Delia these past 6 months.

Funeral with visitation will be held at St. Joseph Parish, Saint Joseph du Moine Church at a later date when the weather is more suitable for her friends and family to attend. Donations may be made in Delia’s name to “Paroisse Saint-Joseph” (St.-Joseph-du-Moine, NS) as follows: by etransfer to [email protected] or by cheque to Paroisse St. Joseph-du-Moine, PO Box 29, St.-Joseph-du-Moine, NS B0E 3A0.
