It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear mother, grammie, sister, aunt and friend, Delvina, 81, on February 19, 2019 at the Foyer Pere Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp. Delvina was born December 9, 1937 in Cheticamp to the late Joseph Joe Poirier and the late Mary Ann (Camus). Delvina was a very quiet, hard working woman with a heart of gold that was thought of as grammie, not only by her own but many others. Delvina moved to Pleasant Bay when she married her husband Herbie in 1953. When not working, she would enjoy her time spent in Sydney with her sisters and friends, picking berries, having a game of cards, or making dinner for anyone that happened to show up at her house. She spent her last year of life at the Foyer Père Fiset where she made new friends and had amazing care, which we will be forever grateful. She will, forever, have a special place in our hearts. Delvina is survived by sons, Arthur (Sylvia); Donnie (Theresa); Cal (Mary); and daughter Joanne (Kevin) Marsh. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Elizabeth; Cathy; Jessie; Cecile; sister-in-law, Bernice; brother-in-law Donald Bishop and very special friends Jamie and Sarah Fader, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Herbie; sisters, Hattie and Alice; brothers, Wilfred; Albert; Didace; Gordon; Arthur; Wilbert; Daniel, and Danny. Visitation will take place on Saturday in the Cheticamp Funeral Home from 2-4P.M. and 7-9P.M., and Sunday, in the Pleasant Bay United Church from 2-4P.M. and 7-9P.M., with funeral service on Monday at 2P.M. in Saint Andrews United Church, Pleasant Bay, with Rev. Alicia Cox officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Bay United Church or the Foyer Père Fiset. Lunch to follow at the Lower Level of The Whale Interpretive Centre.
