Franklin Roosevelt Merry

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Franklin Roosevelt Merry, age 80, of Cheticamp on October 26, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Franklin was born in Cheticamp and was the son of the late Helier Merry and the late Nellie (Robertson) Merry.

After retiring from Nova Scotia Power, he owned and managed Cheticamp Motel.

Franklin is survived by his wife Ethel (Larade) Merry; sons, Kevin Winston (Synnove), Norway, Franklin Malet (Fiona), Dartmouth, Brian Peter (Kazue), Banff; sisters, Helen Merry, Stellarton, Gloria Di Blasio (Pat), Montreal; grandchildren, Benjamin, William, Nicholas, Eric (Maggie), Paul, Peter, Maya, Shylee; sisters-in-law, Ivy Merry, Georgina Merry.

Besides his parents, Franklin was predeceased by daughter, Deborah Ann Merry; brothers, Harold Merry, Derek Merry, twin brother Winston Merry.

Visitation on Tuesday, November 1st, 7-9 pm for the public. Funeral service for the late Franklin Merry will be held at Église Saint-Pierre, Cheticamp on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 10:30am with Reverend Peter Rioux officiating. Burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Cheticamp.

Donations in Franklin’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
