Gloria Marie LeBlanc

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Gloria Marie LeBlanc on December 17, 2025, a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and heart. Gloria lived 88 years, and she truly made every one of them count.

Gloria’s presence filled every room she entered. She was known for her sharp wit, fierce determination, and strong will. When Gloria said no, she meant no and there was no changing her mind. Yet if Gloria was met with a no, her determination would shine through until it became a yes, even if it was a reluctant one. She met life’s challenges head-on, carrying herself with dignity, humor, and an unwavering sense of purpose. Those who knew her understood that beneath her strength, was a profound kindness; one that revealed itself through action rather than words. Gloria had a way of making people feel truly cared for, whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or simply by being there when it mattered most.

Gloria shared 65 years of marriage with the love of her life, Harry LeBlanc. Together they laughed, argued, and faced the world side by side. Gloria was never wrong—or at least Harry let her believe that. They were truly two peas in a pod, conquering life’s ups and downs together.

Gloria was a devoted mother to four children: Darrell, Steve, Shaun and Brenda. While raising three young boys certainly tested her patience, they also kept her young at heart. Gloria was fiercely proud of her children, and anyone who spoke with her could see it light up her face as she talked about them. There was nothing she would not do for her kids. This past year brought unimaginable loss with the passing of two of her sons, a heartbreak she carried with quiet strength, continuing to show love and resilience for her family even in her grief.

Family was always at the center of Gloria’s world. She cherished time spent together and created memories that will be held close forever. Her home was a place of warmth, welcome, and tradition—especially at Christmastime. She stitched the season together year after year through baking, cooking, music, and an open door that made everyone feel they belonged. Christmas did not simply happen in her home; she made it. The traditions she built, the meals she prepared, and the love she gave so freely became the foundation of countless cherished memories.

Gloria was a grandmother in the truest sense of the word — steady hands, a comforting presence, and a love that never wavered. She taught by example: how to care deeply, how to persevere, and how to show up even when life was hard. Her influence will continue to live on through the generations who carry her traditions forward and feel her presence in the moments that matter most.
Gloria’s love extended far beyond her family to her friends and community. She lived a life rooted in hard work, compassion, and service. A respected nurse for 37 years, Gloria was deeply proud of her career and the difference she made in people’s lives. Her passion for helping others extended into public service, where she served as a councillor for District 2 for 19 years. Gloria was made for politics and wasn’t afraid to tell anyone exactly how it was. There was no issue too big or too small for Gloria to take on. Those who knew her, knew better than to stand in her way, those who didn’t quickly learned it wasn’t wise to cross her or argue with her. Those who served alongside her knew she was never afraid to bring forward difficult issues and always ensured fairness and understanding were at the heart of every discussion.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Harry LeBlanc, and her children Steve (Linda) LeBlanc, Brenda (John) Burton and daughter-in-law Priscilla LeBlanc. She was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to many, each of whom she loved deeply. She was predeceased by her sons Darrell and Shaun LeBlanc; her parents, Mary and William Matheson; her grandson Dylan LeBlanc; and her granddaughter Sherri LeBlanc.

Though her absence is deeply felt, Gloria leaves behind a legacy far greater than loss. She will be remembered as a strong woman, a fierce advocate, a loving mother and grandmother, and a true force to be reckoned with. Her legacy lives on through her family, her community, and all those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will take place December 22 from 2-7p.m. at the Belle Côte Community Centre. A Funeral Mass will be held December 23 at 2p.m. at St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph du Moine with a reception to follow at the Belle Côte Community Centre.
