Age 63, Grand Etang died peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. Our sister accepted and faced her health challenges with remarkable grace and calmness. Jeannine retired from Victoria General Hospital in Halifax at the age of 50 and returned to her Cape Breton home where she led a very private and quiet life. She was a very compassionate person who had a soft heart for animals and children and loved cards and Bingo.
Born in Cheticamp, on November 16, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Yvonne(AuCoin) and Joseph Albert Cormier.
Jeannine is survived by four sisters; Rose Marie Chiasson, Marie Delia, Pricilla, and Sheila; three brothers; Arthur, Leon (Kathy MacArthur), and Richard; nieces and nephews, Suzanne, Nancy, Wallace, Dale (Jessica Munian), Andrew MacArthur (Helen); grand-niece and nephews Piper, Jackson, and Deacon. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard and Norman.
‘’Those we love do not go away, they walk beside us every day”. We will miss and remember our sister and hold her deep in our hearts.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Jeannine’s primary Physician, Amelie Maillet; Dr. Paul Sonier, Family Physician, and all other Physicians and Health Care Providers who cared for our sister with great patience and compassion during her stay at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre.
