Age 53, of Cheticamp, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Kevin was a well-respected member of the community of Cheticamp. He owned and operated his own construction company, employing no fewer than five full-time and subcontracting many additional trades people.
Kevin and his partner in all things, Paula, shared a mutual love for the outdoors. They spent most of their free time together; motorcycling, hiking, sea-kayaking, and generally sharing a life together. Weekends would regularly find Kevin and Paula spending one day riding around the Cabot Trail or the province of Nova Scotia at large; while enjoying the next day in the most remote areas of the Cape Breton Highlands. If not on their own, they were often joined in the wilderness by their, “Crazy Hikers”, companions Marcel Forgeron and/or Kimberley Robichaud.
He took great pride in his work; as a result, he was in great demand and was one of the most respected builders in the community.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Paula Aucoin-Camus; his parents, Joseph André and Gisele Anne (Haché) Camus; sister, Michelle (Joel) Deveau and niece Hope.
He was predeceased by his brother, Roderick Joseph “Roddy” Camus (2018).
Kevin left us far too soon; however, he was able to spend his last day doing what he loved most, in a place he loved, with those he cared for the most.
Cremation has taken place.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 10:30 am in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp with Father Pierre Antoine St. Cyr officiating.

Andre, Giselle and Paula, how proud you must be to have brought Kevin into this world and to have been his companions during his glowing life. Our condolences. Kevin was one of those unusual people who had great talent that he graciously shared with others. He was memorable after first meeting due to his openness, care, intellect and understanding. Kevin seemed to succeed without trying but we all know that he seriously pursued and achieved excellence in his professional and personal lives. Fond memories of Kevin will continue into the distant future among many.
