Lionel Aucoin

Age 62, Cheticamp passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 in Margaree. Lionel was a son to the late Gerard and the late Julia (Aucoin) Aucoin.

After reconnecting with the love of his life, Linda, Lionel moved back to Cheticamp, where he touched many lives working as a custodian at the NDA school. When it wasn’t hunting season, you were sure to see him on his Harley with his close friends enjoying the beautiful Cape Breton views. He would always say to anyone he met “Hello my Friend”.

Lionel leaves behind his partner, Linda Poirier; daughters, Nicole and Taylor; son, James; stepson, Harvey; brothers, Roger, Paul and Yvon; sisters, Lucy, Sylvia, Priscille and Theresa; grandchildren, Sophia, Ella, Lucas and Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Lionel, will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the NDA School Breakfast Program (For information, email: [email protected] or call 902-224-5300).

  1. So sorry for you loss I met Lionel a few years ago he refinished a rocking chair for me that I treasure he did a great job. My prayers go out to you at this difficult time.

  2. My condolences to all his family and friends. I met Lionel down here in Marlborough Massachusetts in the 90s, and quickly became close friends. Lionel was one of the most genuine, friendly and kind souls I have ever met. My moms family was also from the Cape Breton area and I often joked about “what the hell did they feed the men from Cape Breton?”, as all my moms brothers (Allain is the family name) were just like Lionel. A great person and friend and will be missed by many
