Age 88, Cheticamp passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. She was a daughter to the late Aimable and the late Helene Mae (Larade) Aucoin.
Maman was a very kind and gentle lady. She never had the chance to attend school as, as the eldest, she was needed at home to care for her sick mom. But that didn’t stop her. She worked very hard her entire life at various jobs and also hooked many large rugs as a sideline. She always dyed her own yarn in the exact shades she wanted to create many masterpieces, and she continued to help her family throughout her life. She could not say no to anyone.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons when they were younger and would do anything they wanted….even play goalie in a game of mini sticks. She would always make sure their hockey gear dried well by the woodstove in the basement and that nothing was missing in the hockey bag for the next game. Mémère also made the best pancakes ever.
She would always look forward to her grandsons’ visits with their families. Grand mémère loved her hugs from Paige, Nicklaus, and Blake. She always asked how everyone was doing and wanted to know what everyone was up to, whether it be hockey scores or travel news.
She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Lucy Angelique is survived by her daughter, Paulette Larade; and her son in law, Fernand, whom she thought the world of; brother, Jimmy (Catherine) Aucoin; sisters, Dorothy (late Albert) Haché, and Patricia (Bobby) Aucoin; sister in law, Sylvia Aucoin; grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Larade, and Trevor (Amanda) Larade; great-grandchildren, Paige, Nicklaus, and Blake.
Besides her parents, Lucy Angelique was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph William and François; sisters, Thérèse Gelina and Thérèse.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Cheticamp Funeral Home. Burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Cheticamp. Everyone is welcome.
