Lynn Basker

Lynn Basker

Age 56, of Fredericton, N.B. formerly of Chéticamp, died on February 14, 2019 in Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. Born in Chéticamp she was a daughter of Réné and Marie (Deveau) Gaudet. Lynn was a very kind, giving and loving person who was always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be best remembered for her love of family and friends, her faith in God, and especially the pride and joy she felt for her grandchildren. When gathered in her presence, there was always lots of laughter. Since her retirement, she volunteered her time to the CWL. She loved nature, especially the beauty of Cape Breton. She had a special place in her heart for the Acadian village of Chéticamp, where she was born and raised. It was reflected by all the photos and hook rugs that she displayed in her home. Besides her parents, Lynn is survived by her daughters, April Basker (Dale), Megan Basker (Kabi), both of Fredericton; brothers, Bruno (Lise) Gaudet, William Gaudet, both of Chéticamp; grandchildren, Brayden, Liam, Hunter, Jake, Finn. She was predeceased by her husband, Wesley Basker (2015). Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, from 7-9 p.m. in Cheticamp Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Cheticamp Funeral Home for family and friends. Interment in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.

To the family of Lynn, my sincere condolences. I can’t imagine your heart ache. Lynn was an important part of our small Mary, Mother of God Chapel community and a small rosary group that gathered on Mondays to pray. I’ve never met a more humble soul. Her kindness and helpfulness, her quiet way of doing things exemplified true Christian virtue. I love her and miss her dearly. Whenever I think of her, all I can see is her smiling face. I’m confident she is enjoying the Father’s House, walking closely with Jesus and Mary.

Lynn came into our family many years ago when she married Wesley and we were blessed to have her in our lives. We were always greeted with a welcoming smile, lots of great food as she was an awesome cook and a big hug. Lynn was a woman of strong faith and I believe this carried her through many challenges in life. Our hearts are broken to lose such a wonderful, kind, caring person as we loved her dearly.

To the family’ of Lynn, i
It is with great sadness that I heard of your daughter, mother, grandmother and sister‘s passing. For many years we attended St Mary’s Chapel together. She was a great catechism coordinator, as well as a loyal and dedicated teacher. She was a member of the CWL when I was a member there as well. She was a strong Catholic , rich in knowledge of her faith and was always ready to share it with others. My husband and I often worked very closely with Lynn teaching Confirmation classes at St Mary’s. She was a kind and beautiful women and I’m sure she’ll be missed by all who knew her. May perpetual light shine upon her and may the soul of our dearly beloved sister Lynn, through the Mercy of God , Rest in Peace.
    With Deepest Sympathy.
