Marcellin Aucoin

Marcellin Aucoin

Age 86, Cheticamp passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp. Marcellin was the son of the late Christophe AuCoin and the late Emma Roach.

Marcellin is survived by his wife, Ethel (Bourgeois); son, Claude (Kelly); daughter, Lise (Claudie) Aucoin; grandchildren, J.R. (Carly), Riley, Brady, Nova, Jayden and Lucas; sister, Laurette (Eugene) MacGillivray; brothers-in-law, Albert Nugent, Joe Breininger, and Bill McCue; and sister-in-law, Claudette Aucoin.

Marcellin was predeceased by his brothers, Wilfred and Albert; sisters, Marie-Helene, Elizabeth, Rita, and Thérèse.

Marcellin was an employee of La Paroisse Saint-Pierre, and worked at Le Centre Acadien for 40 years. He was a member of the Cheticamp Volunteer Fire Department and also on the Palliative Care Team.

A devoted father and grandfather, he was very proud of his family’s accomplishments. His love for them was unconditional, as they were his pride and joy. He was a friend to all. To know him was to love him.

Marcellin was regarded as a master at filleting fish, enjoyed “running” and hosting La Mi-Carême. Marcellin was fond of gardening, hunting and fishing. He loved spending his evenings watching his favorite hockey team, Les Canadiens de Montréal.

Throughout his illness, he was cared for by his wife of 60 years before becoming a resident of Le Foyer Père Fiset, where he adapted very well to his surroundings, and always greeted staff with a huge smile.

The family invites you to L’Église St. Pierre on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, where they will be accepting condolences at 1:00 pm until time of funeral mass at 2:00 pm with Father Pierre Antoine St. Cyr officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Le Foyer Père Fiset.
