Marie Cecile Poirier

We announce the passing of Marie Cecile Poirier, 93 of Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home in Chéticamp which occurred on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre.  Born in Cap-Rouge in 1925 she was the daughter of the late Joseph (Cacun) Desveaux and the late Marie Poirier.  Marie Cecile raised her family while also taking care of her grandmother, followed by her father and a brother. She worked for several years at the Cheticamp Fish Plant and then worked as kitchen helper and then on the cleaning staff at Sacred Heart Hospital until her retirement.  Marie Cecile is survived by daughters, Catherine Muise (Deland), Marie Hélène Poirier (Donat LeBlanc), Ginette Poirier (Gerald LeBlanc), Geraldine Poirier (Burnell Deveau); sister, Eva Desveaux (Richard Chiasson), grand-children, Eric, Sonia, Shelley, Gary, Jessica, Darrell, Angela; great grandchildren, Antoine, Douglas, Thomas, Henry, Felix, Arthur, Evelyn, Yuna, Hana.  She was predeceased by her first husband Paul Muise, second husband, Henry (John) Poirier; grand-daughter, Laurie Ann LeBlanc; brothers, Freddy, John Joe, Amédée, Yvon, Pierre, Henri; sisters, Marguerite, Rhea. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in Cheticamp Funeral Home.  Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Église Saint-Pierre, Chéticamp with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating.  Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Sacred Heart Community Health Centre or the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
