“Marie” Gelina Muise

Age 86 of Cheticamp, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Marie was a daughter of the late Athanase and the late Josephine (AuCoin) Larade.
Our mother, Marie, was a quiet woman. She will be remembered for her beautiful rug hooking, for over 60 years. In 1972, she presented a Tree of Life hooked rug which was presented to Queen Elizabeth 11, in Halifax. She always wore an apron and had great pleasure baking for her grandchildren and her many friends.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Lisette Muise, Nicole Muise, and Aline (Dave) Anderson; her grandchildren, Josie Hobin and Jenna Hobin; and her great grandson, Leo.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Leo Muise; her brothers, Anselm John Larade and Charlie Larade; and her sister, Dina Deveau.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 in the Cheticamp Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 11 am in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp with Father Daniel Gustave officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or a Charity of your Choice.
