It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Marie-Henriette Chiasson, age 100, on April 29, 2019 at Foyer Père Fiset, Cheticamp, N.S. Born at The Concession, near Margaree, she was predeceased by her parents, Mary Ann MacKinnon and Bernard Poirier and her siblings Jimmy and Margaret, Inverness, N.S. She grew up in Belle Côte and later Grand Étang, with her adopted mother Marie and Pierre à Pierre Chiasson. She married Lévis à Isidore Chiasson. He predeceased her in 1973. She is survived by her children Edna (Jimmy) Poirier, Gerard (Geraldine) Chiasson, Sylvia (Adrien) Boudreau, and Robert (Elaine) Chiasson. She had a large extended family whom she cherished. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews were the joy of her life. Henriette worked at the Lemoyne Coop for 15 years. She was a very generous person that always found time for family and friends. The tea kettle was always waiting on the stove. She loved playing cards but didn’t like to lose. She had a passion for music and dancing and always had a hooked rug on her old wooden frame. She appreciated all company but especially any dog that would come visit her. Family will be present at St. Joseph’s Church, St. Joseph du Moine from 9:30 am till time of funeral mass at 10:30 am on Friday, May 3, 2019, with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations can be made to the Foyer Père Fiset or a charity of your choice.

Sincerest condolences on your loss…of such a great person. They do not make them from that stock anymore. She had such a love of life…a joie de vivre and wisdom that we can certainly all learn from. I would like to believe…it is very much a part of her legacy to her loved ones and many many friends. I will miss her little chats (she had a special interest for our adopted daughter), her love of dogs, her generosity (especially many offerings of chocolate), her appreciation for every little thing (like putting her light on when it was dark) and especially her witty “jokes”. May her beautiful soul rest in peace and her kind heart shine within her family’s hearts.
