Marie Julia LeFort

Age 82, Cheticamp passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp. Julia was the daughter of the late Amédée and the late Henriette (Poirier) Bourgeois.

Julia loved to travel and she loved music. She made a few trips to the United States over the years, but her favorites were her many annual trips to New Brunswick to spend time with her precious grandsons. Julia worked 30 years at the Coopérative de Pêche de Chéticamp, and then went on to work at Laurie’s Motel as a bookkeeper for numerous years.

Julia is survived by her daughter, Francine Scott (Stephen); brother, Roger Bourgeois (Diane); sister, Madeleine Chiasson (late Alphonse); grandchildren, Ryan Scott (Cassidy), Alexander Scott (Whitney), and Jeffrey Scott (Jamie); and great grandchild, Harlow.

Besides her parents, Julia was predeceased by her husband, Simon Charles (Simis) Deveau; brother, Réal Joseph Bourgeois (infancy).

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 25, 2024 in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp with Father Pierre Antoine St. Cyr officiating. Family will accept condolences from 9:30 am until time of funeral mass at 10:30 am. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Foyer Père Fiset or a charity of your choice.

    I was hoping to see you soon on my trip home, but God called you home first.
