Age 86, Cheticamp passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp. Lorraine was a daughter of the late Joseph and the late Marie Helene (Chiasson) Deveau.
Lorraine loved music of all kinds. She loved dancing and singing. She left her hometown of Cheticamp when she was seventeen and moved to Halifax for many years. Later, she moved to Toronto where she worked in a factory, until she moved back home to Cheticamp and worked at the fish plant until she retired.
Lorraine is survived by her sisters, Marie Diane Cormier, and Marie Stella Doucet; nieces and nephews, Amanda Cormier, Darlene Doucet, Kevin Doucet, David Deveaux, Irvinna Deveaux, Wanda Chiasson, and Celina Deveaux Thomas; as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Irvin Deveau; nephew, Wendel Doucet.
Her remains will be resting at the Cheticamp Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:30 am in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp with Deacon Gerald LeBlanc officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Lorraine’s memory to the Foyer Père Fiset or the Alzheimer’s Society.
