Age 78. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Sylvia LeBlanc. She is predeceased by husband Joseph “Joe Wilfred” LeBlanc, siblings; Leonard, Lawrence, Edna, and Lorraine; grandchildren, John Ronald and Joseph Anthony in infancy.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, East Margaree on Saturday, May 25, 2019, with Father Macdonald Ibeh officiating. It is with much sadness that Kathy and I learned of your Mum’s passing. We had the opportunity to spend a little time with her and my dad a few years back and found her to be a delightful lady. Full of life and always smiling.
Surely she will be missed as the Matriarch of the family. But with passing comes wonderful memories, shared amongst those that fondly remember.
Mark, Noella,Colette, Roy and family ….we are so very sorry to hear of Sylvia’s passing. On my last visit I told her I would be looking forward to seeing her next summer, sadly, that’s not to be. She was a good neighbor and friend and we will surely miss Sylvia and her great sense of humour. Circumstances make it impossible for us to attend Sylvia’s funeral, but we will be there in spirit. May she Rest In Peace.
Sincere condolences,
Gordie and Pat Carroll

I’m so sorry to read of the passing of Sylvia, she was a fantastic lady. I first met Sylvia and Joe back in the late eighties…I would go to their home to shoe their Clydesdale horses. Over several years I would go to their barn every two months. In the beginning of my Farrier career, with Joe’s experience in draft horses he was always prepared to share his knowledge with me, in my training years, to this day his knowledge still comes back to me. I would perform a trimming technique on a horses hoof and remember that Joe taught me this little trick which made my job easier.
Joe and Sylvia ran their business in forestry and I remember Joe telling me that a day will come when you will find that horses you can get along with but some owners will cause you the grief…..I found this out to be so true.
As I would drive up the driveway hill their home was set in a beautiful breath taking view of the Margaree Valley and to complement the scenery the smell of home cooking coming from the kitchen made me hungry before I even worked up an appetite, Sylvia’s magic touch in the kitchen will never be forgotten by me.
I share to the family one quick story…It was shortly before Christmas , Joe and I where in the barn working and Sylvia, arrives in with her grandchildren, she introduced them to me by name and she started to explain to them what I was doing as I worked away trimming the hooves. Joe, asked me how busy I was in getting horses ready for the snow and ice for other people. I replied, that I was really busy but had time to go trim Santa Claus’s reindeer hooves, they needed attention for the long journey on Christmas Eve. I told them that I had met up with Santa Claus on the roof of the Antigonish Shopping mall and did my work. Both Sylvia and Joe where laughing away from the excitement of the little ones facial expressions. You see not everyone’s grandchildren hears about a Sylvia and Joe’s farrier trimming Santa Clauses reindeer’s hooves….and still do.
many happy memories
big hug to all the family,
