Mathilde Chiasson

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mathilde Chiasson, 89 of Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home in Chéticamp which occurred on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Guest Home. Born in Chéticamp on September 21, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Daniel “P’tit Den” and Anita (LeBlanc) Chiasson. Mathilde worked many years in the laundry department at l’Hôpital Sacré Coeur. She was a very religious and spiritual person, always lending a helping hand to her church until she was no longer able to. She loved a good game of cards, visits from family and friends. She lived her last 3 years at the Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home. Many thanks to the administration and dedicated employees who care for our aging population with utmost dignity. Mathilde is survived by her brother, Jimmy Chiasson residing at Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home; sister-in-law, Jeanette (LeBlanc) Chiasson; special nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Chiasson, Placide Chiasson and Patsy Chiasson; sister, Sr. Lucie Chiasson. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. in Cheticamp Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 9 a.m. in Église Saint-Pierre, Chéticamp with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home or to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cheticamp Funeral Services Ltd.
