Paul Neil MacDonald

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paul Neil MacDonald, age 64, of Edmonton, Alberta (Formerly of Cheticamp) on August 23, 2022. Paul was born in Liverpool, England on July 25, 1958, to parents, the late John Neil MacDonald (Sugarloaf, Cape Breton) and the late Mary (Windsor) MacDonald (Liverpool, UK).

Paul was a man of many talents. He was an artist, carpenter, mechanic, IT networker, truck Driver, and spent 5 years in the Canadian Military where he did two tours in Afghanistan. In essence, there was not too much he could not, or would not try, or do to learn about new and exciting things. His Motto was: “If You’re Gonna Build It ….. Build It Strong.” He spent 6 months roughing it in the Australian Outback and extensively explored Canada’s North. He had a keen interest in all things nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Paul is survived and will be missed by his daughters, April MacDonald and Saywerd MacDonald, Cheticamp; and son Paul Neil MacDonald, Halifax; brothers, John MacDonald (Sherry), Dartmouth and Neil MacDonald (PollyAnn), Cheticamp; grandchildren, Stevie, Braxton and Landon; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; special sister, Rita Goodman; special brothers, Lloyd, David, Addie and Arlie Fitzgerald.

Besides his parents, John and Mary, Paul was predeceased by his former partner, Darlene (Ingraham) MacDonald; special sisters, Ann Marie Fitzgerald and Helen Fraser; special brothers, Roy and Kelly Fitzgerald.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 32, Cheticamp, on Friday, September 23 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow.

Cremation has taken place. Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Cheticamp.
