Reta MacKinnon

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Reta MacKinnon on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp surrounded by her loving family, at the young age of 71.

Reta was born in Neil’s Harbour. She was a daughter of the late Sandy and the late Tina MacKinnon. Nanny lived for those Tuesday and Thursday nights. Reta was always ready to help anyone in need, whether it was for a meal, someone to talk to, or a couch to sleep on.

Reta leaves behind, her sons, Roland (Joclyn), and Ronnie (Amanda); stepson, Robbie (Janet); grandchildren, Jessica (Dale), Navindra (Soraya), Rolena (Justin), Shania, Tyrone (Annette), Evander, Savanah, CJ, Robert, Carolyn, Joanna, Destiny, Shaniece, and Cannon; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry David (Jackie), and Duglas (Jessie); sisters, Sadie, Alice, and Alantia; 33 nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Randy; stepson, John Thomas; brothers, John Dan, Leslie, and Audie; sisters, Carol, and Belinda.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Cheticamp Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Asby Bay Cemetery, Asby Bay with Rev. Peter Rioux officiating.
