Robert Doucet

Age 73, Chéticamp, passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Center in Chéticamp. He was the son of the late Alex W. Doucet and the late Annie Larade.

After finishing his 11th year at École NDA, Robert attended Mabou Consolidated to obtain a business certificate.  He then worked and later took over his father’s convenience store where he spent many hours serving customers who most often became good friends.  His love of photography developed in a part time photography business for the Chéticamp area.  He was often seen with his camera at many community events, sports events and especially weddings.  His social nature was felt during the week of “la Mi-Carême” where he would entertain with his many costumes.  Many people who knew him will remember him for his quick wit, many jokes and kind heart.  He always had a passion for genealogy and will be missed by many who would call him to learn more about their family history.

He is survived by his children, Marie-Josée, Sylvette (Pierre), Stéphane (Brenda), Colette and Jérémie (Frédérique).  His pride and joy were his grandchildren who gave him the strength to live his life to the fullest:  Alexanne, Gabriel, Sophie and Thomas.  He is also survived by his sisters Marguerite Aucoin and Annette (Brian) McManus as well as his cousin Huguette Deveau.  He was also very close to his wife’s siblings Gerard (Marie), Sylvie, Joseph, Muriel and Fernand (Paulette) as well as many nieces and nephews.  A special thank you to Gélas and Gilberte.

He was predeceased by his wife Marie Claire Larade, his brother Marcel and his sister in-law Majella.

There will be no visitation.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at 10:30 am at Église Saint Pierre in Chéticamp with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating.  Family members will be greeting friends and community members starting at 9:45 am.  Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.  Donations may be made to the recreational department at the Foyer Père Fiset.
