Roger Joseph Aucoin

Age 69, of Petit Etang, Inverness Co., passed away in Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp, on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 with his family by his side. Born August 18, 1948, he was the son of Joseph A. and Sadie Mae (Bourgeois) Aucoin. Roger was a truck driver for 41 years. He was a kind man always ready to volunteer in his community. He would help out at bingos, flea markets, at Canadian Legion functions and many others. Roger was a happy man who enjoyed the simple things in life; a gentle giant who loved coffee with his friends, a good game of cards, the laughter of children and spending time with his family and friends. Roger is survived by his wife, Sharon Aucoin, Petit Etang; sons, Robert Aucoin and Mark (Catherine) Aucoin both of Ontario; brothers, Réal (Dauphine) Aucoin, André (Anita) Aucoin both of Cheticamp; sister, Jeannine (Simi) Larade, Grand Etang; grandchildren, Katelyn Mae Aucoin, Nathan Mark Aucoin, Zackary Aucoin Byron, Zaida Rose Saffarese, Aidan John Saffarese; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held in Cheticamp Funeral Home on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp with Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Mémorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Community Health Centre or to a charity of choice. Funeral is under the direction of Cheticamp Funeral Services Ltd.
