Cheticamp, age 70, passed away Friday evening, October 17th, 2025. Born in Cheticamp, April 4th, 1955, Ron was the 7th of 9 children to the late Willie and the late Madeleine (LeBlanc) Roach. The family moved to Woodstock, Ontario when Ron was five years old. Like many before him, he was unable to escape the undeniable draw to his Acadian roots and natural beauty of Cheticamp, moving back in 1983 for good.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Calista (Deveaux) Roach; son, Shaun Poo Bear Roach (Brandy); daughter, Raven Two Shoes Roach (Serge); mother-in-law, Adrienne Deveaux; his two grandsons, Marco and Marcus; and granddaughters, Ella and Janie; his brothers, Clifford Roach (Mary deceased), Claudie Roach (Susan), and Rick Roach; sisters, Priscille Hoelke, and Claudette; as well as eleven nephews and nieces, numerous cousins and many cherished friends (you all know who you are).
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his father-in-law, Wilfred Deveaux; brother, Roger Roach; and sisters, Diane and Marilyne.
Ron was a hardworking man till the very end, always willing to go above and beyond to help his family and friends. He will be dearly missed and leaves a huge void to many. If you were lucky enough to be part of his inner circle, then you were blessed to see his humorous and caring side. Ron may have had a tough outer shell but, in reality, was very soft hearted.
Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 with visitation from 10 am until time of funeral mass at 11am with Father Daniel Gustave officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to C.A.R.E.S. (Cheticamp Area Residential Education Society).
All are invited to remember Ron and celebrate a life well lived.
