Tony Harris

Tony Harris

Age 47, Chéticamp, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Tony was a son of Charlie Joe and Lucie Adèle (Deveau) Harris.

It is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to Tony after a short, but tough battle with lung cancer, after having been cancer free for over 12 years. Tony was born in Chéticamp where he lived all his life and where he met the love of his life with whom he spent the rest of his life with. He and his wife were married on October 10, 2020. Even knowing what laid ahead, he chose to live life to the fullest. Tony was most comfortable in the woods and in the mountains which surrounded his family homestead. One of his favorite things to do was to spend time with his favorite dogs, Levis and Bella. His pets (cats and dogs), were his babies. As he didn’t have children of his own, he greatly loved his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Tony had great love for his family and friends.

Beloved son, husband, brother, cousin, uncle and friend to many, he will be forever loved and missed….but never forgotten. ‘til we meet again Tony….xox

Besides his parents, Tony is survived by his wife Candice (Glazer) Harris; brothers, Ricky Harris, and Brian (Mary Lee) Harris; sisters, Debbie (Clyde Elliott) Harris, and Ida Deveau.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 7-9pm at the Chéticamp Funeral Home. Masks and social distancing are required. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Chéticamp Funeral Home (family and invited guests only). Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Chéticamp. All are welcome to attend the graveside prayers at 11am.

Donations may be made to Cancer Patient Center, Sydney, Cape Breton Cancer Patient Fund, or charity of one’s choice.

My most sincere sympathies to the family & friends of this good soul. It has been way too long since I’ve been in touch with Ricky & Brian whom I played hockey with when we were all children and very innocent. I was not close with Tony but when growing up, I knew enough to feel that this family was a good one and I am positive that you are all feeling the love and caring that is coming your way in these tragic times. Sending heartfelt condolences from my family to yours.
