79, of Cheticamp N.S., formerly Bouctouche, N.B. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at the Foyer P\u00e8re Fiset, Cheticamp, on August 25, 2021. He was married to the late Marie Sophie (Shomphe) Bastarache. Born in Sainte-Anne de Kent, he was the son of the late Ars\u00e8ne and the late \u00c9milienne (Cormier) Bastarache.<\/p>\n
Raoul was well known by friends and family while working most of his career and living in Waltham MA, USA before retiring and returning home to Cheticamp with his wife Marie Sophie. \u00a0He was a member of the AA Group since 1977.\u00a0 He was passionate about his success in the program and was always willing to help others get through.\u00a0 He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3850, and was the Deputy Grand Knight before his illness.\u00a0 When coming to his hometown in N.B., Raoul would always make sure to visit his beloved brothers and sisters as well as many nephews and nieces.<\/p>\n
Raoul was predeceased by his wife Marie Sophie (2015), He leaves to mourn two sisters, Rita LeBlanc (late Alban) of Shediac, N.B. and Andr\u00e9a Robichaud (late Alfred) of Bouctouche, N.B. (formerly of Saint-Antoine); his three brothers, Laurier (late Stella) of Bellington, MA, Ulysse (Sue) of Saint-Maurice, N.B. and R\u00e9gis (Ir\u00e8ne) of Dieppe, N.B.; two sisters in law, N\u00e9lida Savoie\u00a0 and Andr\u00e9a Bastarache, both from Bouctouche, N.B.; as well as several nephews and nieces.\u00a0 He also leaves behind, his special niece Pearlene Cormier, and his special friend Elizabeth Aucoin and her son Roy Aucoin.<\/p>\n
He was predeceased by seven brothers, G\u00e9rard, No\u00ebl, Pr\u00e9m\u00e9lite, Marc, Ald\u00e9i, Lorenzo and Sylvio; as well as five sisters, Elmire, Laudia, Simonne, Marie and Clarisse.<\/p>\n
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Joseph\u2019s Church, St. Joseph du Moine with Father Pierre Antoine St. Cyr officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.<\/p>\n
