Age 87, Cheticamp\u00a0\u00a0 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at the Foyer P\u00e8re Fiset Home. Mom was one of eight children, born to the late Wilson Gwinn and the late Sadie (Wilkie) Gwinn along with Effie, Mary, Iris, Vida, Fred, Ricky, and Ray along with family chosen sister, Bobbie. She was married in Cape North to Stanley Fraser, lived in\u00a0Pleasant Bay for eleven years, then moved to Cheticamp where she raised her family of seven children to which she devoted her life to; Flora (Cyril Burns), Melvin, Corinne, Clifford, Sheila, William (Jackie) and Curtis. She also had three grandchildren; Nathan, Preston, (Angie) and Ferrari and two great grandchildren; Ryan and Dawson. Over the years she generously helped those in need by providing a home for them in which some have kept in touch with us to this day.<\/p>\n
Mom had a great sense of humour which everyone liked and that she kept to her last day here with us. She filled her days by cooking wholesome meals for the family, spending time with pets, reading, knitting, baking, talking on the phone with friends and more. She made Christmas a very special and magical time for us and always made sure we had a lot of presents and a huge Christmas dinner.<\/p>\n
Mom enjoyed the simple things in life, taking great pleasure in eating her favourite foods, especially strawberries, ice cream and fish.<\/p>\n
A graveside service, for family and friends only, will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Pleasant Bay Cemetery, Pleasant Bay with Rev. Peter Rioux officiating. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Am\u00e9lie Maillet, the staff of the Foyer P\u00e8re Fiset, where she was well taken care of since March, 2020, along with the staff of Cheticamp Funeral Home for their professional service.
