It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Florence Patricia \u201cPatsy\u201d Aucoin on February 25th<\/sup>, 2023 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp at the age of 74.\u00a0 Patsy was born on December 16th, 1948 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cheticamp to the late Frederick and the late Margaret (Tompkins) Arsenault.<\/p>\n

She left home at an early age to work in Toronto, but a few years later found herself in Halifax pursuing her studies to become a CNA.\u00a0 Her heart brought her back to Margaree where she met her husband, Leonard.\u00a0 Patsy and Leonard settled \u201cau lac\u201d where they raised their 2 children, Leonora and Terry.\u00a0 Patsy worked at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre up until her retirement in 2006, as a medical records tech.<\/p>\n

Patsy and Leonard were happily married for 50 years.\u00a0 They enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time at \u201cShantytown\u201d, their paradise on the Margaree River.\u00a0 Patsy\u2019s door was always open, and you were sure to find a hot pot of tea on the stove.\u00a0 She was an active member of the community and volunteered countless hours to numerous committees and fundraisers.\u00a0 She had many hobbies which included gardening, knitting, painting and of course, quilting.\u00a0 Most importantly, Patsy was very proud of her family and loved spending quality time with her three granddaughters, Anabelle, Samantha, and Hanna.<\/p>\n

Patsy is survived by her loving husband, Leonard; two children, Leonora Aucoin-Satri (Ravi) and Terry Aucoin (Nicole); three granddaughters, Anabelle, Samantha, and Hanna; siblings, Claire LeBlanc (Simon), Rosie McCloskey (Vernon) and Earl Arsenault (Michelle).\u00a0 She will be remembered and missed by many other family members.\u00a0 Patsy is predeceased by her brother, Michael Arsenault (Kay).\u00a0 The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp for their care and compassion.<\/p>\n

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3rd from 7 to 9pm at the Cheticamp Funeral Home.\u00a0 Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 4th at 10:30 am in \u00c9glise St. Joseph, St. Joseph du Moine with Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph\u2019s Cemetery Fund, St. Joseph du Moine. E-transfers can be made to: paroisse.stjdm@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n
