Poirier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>December 28<span class=\"s2\">th<\/span>, 1937 \u00a0&#8212; \u00a0June 2<span class=\"s2\">nd<\/span>, 2024 &#8211; It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden but peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Andr\u00e9 A. Poirier, Sunday, June 2<span class=\"s2\">nd<\/span>, 2024 at the age of 86 at QEII Health Science Center, Halifax, Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Ch\u00e9ticamp, December 28<span class=\"s2\">th<\/span>, 1937 to the late Hypolite \u00b4Polite\u00b4 and the late Clothilde (Deveau) Poirier, he married the love of his life Marie H\u00e9l\u00e8ne, September 26<span class=\"s2\">th<\/span>, 1959. <span class=\"s3\">His passing occurred just<\/span>\u00a0a few months shy of their 65<span class=\"s2\">th<\/span> wedding anniversary.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s3\">Andr\u00e9 began his career with the Royal Bank at the Ch<\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u00e9<\/span><span class=\"s3\">ticamp branch in 1955.\u00a0 H<\/span><span class=\"s3\">is career<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">progres<\/span><span class=\"s3\">sed, moving the family throughout<\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u00a0Nova Scotia and eventually\u00a0to Montreal where Andr\u00e9<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">worked <\/span><span class=\"s3\">his way up to <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Vice-President\u00a0of Montreal Cor<\/span><span class=\"s3\">e <\/span><span class=\"s3\">region. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Andr\u00e9<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> retire<\/span><span class=\"s3\">d in 1994<\/span><span class=\"s3\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">he and <\/span>Marie H\u00e9l\u00e8ne returned <span class=\"s3\">to <\/span><span class=\"s3\">their<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> beloved Ch\u00e9ticamp<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> a year later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s3\">Even after retirement the financial world was a large part of Andr\u00e9\u2019s life<\/span><span class=\"s3\">;<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> investing, discussing the markets and assisting others with financial activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition to spending time with his family (as \u201cDiddlee\u201d to his grand children and \u201cDidi\u201d to his great grand daughter) and banking, he found purpose and happiness delivering \u201cmeals on wheels\u201d, playing bridge with friends, playing and watching golf.<\/p>\n<p>Their life together will forever be cherished by his wife Marie-H\u00e9l\u00e8ne (n\u00e9e Boudreau), his children, Denise (Daniel), Monique (Andrew), Marc (Josephine \u2018Jo\u2019), Nicole. Grandchildren Alex, Kayla (Matthew) and Andr\u00e9, and his new sunshine, great granddaughter Bianca.<\/p>\n<p>Also surviving are his brother Gordon and brothers and sister-in-law Ernest, Louis-L\u00e9vi (R\u00e9jeanne) and Marie-Lorraine, numerous nieces, nephews extended family and dear friends from all over.<\/p>\n<p>The family would like to thank the First Responders from the Cheticamp Volunteer Fire Department, <span class=\"s4\">Dr. Amelie<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">Maillet<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> and all \u00a0<\/span>the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, Ch\u00e9ticamp, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney and the nurses of the CCU &amp; Cardiac Day Unit of the QEII Halifax, as well as the Cheticamp Funeral Home, for their care and compassion in the last few days of Andr\u00e9\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s5\">A funeral mass will be celebrated on <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Saturday, June 8<\/span><span class=\"s6\">th<\/span><span class=\"s5\">, 2024<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> in St. Peter\u2019s Church, Ch\u00e9ticamp, with family accepting condolences from <\/span><span class=\"s5\">9:30<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> am until <\/span><span class=\"s5\">10:30<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> am<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> (the start of the funeral service)<\/span><span class=\"s5\">, with <\/span><span class=\"s5\">P\u00e8re <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Pie<\/span><span class=\"s5\">rr<\/span><span class=\"s5\">e <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Antoine St<\/span><span class=\"s5\">. <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Cyr and Deacon Gerald <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Leblanc<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> officiating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s11\"><span class=\"s7\">Family flowers only<\/span><span class=\"s7\">.<\/span> <span class=\"s7\">Memorial donations may be made to <\/span><span class=\"s7\">the Sacred Heart Hospital Charitable Foundation, <\/span><span class=\"s7\">Paroisse<\/span><span class=\"s7\"> Saint Pierre,<\/span> <span class=\"s7\">Ch\u00e9ticamp<\/span><span class=\"s7\">, \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s7\">Sauvons<\/span><span class=\"s7\"> Notre <\/span><span class=\"s7\">\u00c9glise<\/span><span class=\"s7\">\u201d, <\/span><span class=\"s7\">Ch\u00e9ticamp Volunteer<\/span><span class=\"s7\">\u00a0Fire Department or a charity of your choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Andr\u00e9 in conversation several days before his passing, \u00ab<b><i>I had the best life.\u00bb<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 28th, 1937 \u00a0&#8212; \u00a0June 2nd, 2024 &#8211; It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden but peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Andr\u00e9 A.
