Roderick Joseph “Roddy” Camus

Roderick Joseph “Roddy” Camus

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our son, Roderick Joseph “Roddie” Camus, age 44 of Maison Roderigue, Chéticamp on October 30, 2018 in Sacred Heart Community Health Center, Chéticamp. Born in Baddeck, Victoria Co., he was a son of Joseph André and Gisele Anne (Haché) Camus. “Lost our boy twice” at age 3 1\2, Roddy had to leave his home and be placed at Sydney Training Center for three and a half years followed by a six month period at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax to be monitored and placed on a program and medications for seizures. Upon his discharged he then was placed in Pictou Training Center for 12 years. Finally in 1993 we were able to bring him closer to home when the Green Door Society known now as “C.A.R.E.S.” provided us with the umbrella to build a home called “La Maison Rodrigue” where Roddy was well-loved and cared for during the last 25 years. Thank you to all employees who cared, nurtured and loved him like their own. Today we say good-bye again to eternity. Fly high our lovely blue eyed boy, Mom, Dad and family. Roddy is survived by brother, Kevin John (Paula Aucoin) Camus; sister, Michelle (Camus) Deveau, her husband, Joël Deveau; niece, « Hope » Marie Ann Deveau; and several aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Sandé and Katy May Haché, paternal grandparents, Napoléon and Jeannette Camus. Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 3rd, in Église Saint-Pierre Vestry, Chéticamp at 10 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating. The burial to follow in the parish cemetery. No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to C.A.R.E.S., P.O. Box 550, Chéticamp, B0E1H0, to the Cancer Patient Care Fund or to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cheticamp Funeral Services Ltd.
