Roméo (Meo) Poirier

Roméo (Meo) Poirier

Age 59, Cheticamp, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at home. Meo was the son of the late Joseph Octave and the late Marie Anne (Larade) Poirier. Meo spent most of his life working in the fishing industry. He started as a fisherman and then went on to start his own business as a fish buyer. He could be either found driving around on the wharfs or in his shed doing numerous phone calls. He will be remembered for how much he loved his family and a few special neighbors (Nolan, Rylan, and Caden).

Meo is survived by his wife Michelle Poirier; sons, Alexandre (Amelie) and Chris (Terri); brothers, Jean Phillip (Yvonne), Calixte (Sylvia), Ferdinand (Claudette), and Ronnie (Wilfredine); sisters, Lorraine, Marie Nanon Hall, and Sylvia; grandchildren, Carley LeBlanc, Audrey Poirier, and Lévi Poirier; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Lionel. Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

I am so sorry to learn of Méo’s passing. In my travels across this county, there are a few people in each community you always enjoy seeing, and Méo was one of them in Chéticamp. We shared many a good laugh during Alexandre and Chris’s hockey-playing days. Je suis désolé pour ta perte Michelle.
