Age 76, of Grand Etang, Inverness Co., passed away on June 24th, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 6th, 1942 in Chéticamp, he was the son of the late Pierre and Josephine (Doucet) Fiset. Aurel will be remembered as a kind, patient and gentle soul that was never the loudest voice in the room. He was selfless and always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His tired, hard-working hands and sharp mind were his true craft. There isn’t a local fisherman, farmer, logger or mechanic that he didn’t help at some point in time. A diesel mechanic by trade and a fisherman by heart, he was a loyal buddy to all who knew him well. He was also a founding member of the LeMoine Volunteer Fire Department. His greatest devotion was to his family; Aurel was a loving husband, a very proud father and grandfather. His family filled his heart with joy. He was greatly admired and will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Germaine Fiset; daughter, Brenda (Stéphane) Fiset Doucet, Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Tammy MacGregor-Fiset, Grand Etang; brothers, Wilfred (Wilfreda) Fiset, Roderigue (Patricia) Fiset, Armand (Annette) Fiset, all of Chéticamp; grandchildren, Brendon Fiset, Hailey Fiset, Sophie Doucet, Thomas Doucet. Predeceased by son, Kevin Fiset; brothers, Aurel Louis Fiset in infancy, Jean Pierre Fiset. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, June 29th, 2018 from 2-4 p.m., until time of funeral mass at 4 p.m., both in Saint Joseph’s Church, St. Joseph du Moine with Father Peter LeBlanc officiating.
