UPDATED: Age 38, Margaree Harbour. It is with great sorrow that we, the family of Rodney John Burns, announce his sudden passing on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Vancouver, B.C.
Rodney was the eldest son of Colleen (Kennedy) and the late John Roderick Burns.
Rodney was a very strong and passionate man who loved his family unconditionally. He was most recently employed by ITL Diamond Drilling Ltd. in Smithers, B.C. His heart, however, was on the ocean, fishing alongside his family, whenever he could. Rodney loved the gym and working out. It gave him peace and fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming like his favorite kid’s show hero, “He Man”, a show he still enjoyed as an adult, as well as “The Three Ninjas”, who of course, were he and his two brothers. They will forever Be.
Rodney enjoyed being the life of the party, and underneath all those muscles and tough guy exterior, was a man with a really decent heart, and a man who knew great loss in his life but did his very best to comfort others with his huge, charming smile and crushing hugs.
Besides his mother, Colleen, Rodney is survived by his brothers, Howard (Melanie), and Chris (Jenn); fiancé, Brandi Campbell; nieces, Jailyne and Breah; nephew, Avery, and Brandi’s children, Gabe and Austin; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Besides his father, Johnny, he was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Roddie and Annie Burns, and maternal grandparents, Edward and Betty Kennedy; step-father, Richard Aucoin, and aunt Linda LeBlanc.
The family would like to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the endless number of people who have reached out and shared stories, provided food and offered words of support.
Cremation has taken place as per Rodney’s wishes. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 3rd, 2021 at 2:00pm in St. Michael’s Cemetery, East Margaree. Donations may be made, in Rodney’s memory, to Mental Health/Addiction Services, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice. Family flowers only please.
