Jean Albert Aucoin

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we sadly announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Jean “Albert” Aucoin, at the age of 78, on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Chéticamp. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Marcellin (à George) Aucoin; Elizabeth (à Pit) Poirier; and brothers, Eugene and Marcel Aucoin.

Albert leaves to mourn many who will miss him dearly. He leaves behind a very special friend and partner, Marie Jeanette LeFort. Together, Marie Jeanette and Dad had a beautiful life where they travelled and enjoyed the simplest things. He also leaves behind his son, Glenn (Lisa); daughters, Lynn (Curtis), and Lisa (Jean-Paul); grandchildren, Kelsey and Craig. Also surviving are sisters, Claudette (Edmond) Aucoin, Georgina Aucoin, Jeanne (Pierre) Paillé; sister-in-law, Linda Aucoin; many nieces and nephews.

Albert was a hard worker and a very successful businessman. He co-founded and owned several family businesses including Aucoin’s Electrical, Aucoin’s Mobility and the Seafood Stop Restaurant. His work introduced him to countless friends, colleagues, customers, and business partners. He always took pride in sharing his vast knowledge and experiences by mentoring those who were new to the trade industry. Even after his retirement, he maintained his daily routine of having morning coffee with his buddies at the “shop”. Dad had a great sense of humour and loved hearing or telling a good joke.

As an individual, dad was the kindest, most gentle soul who gave with all of his heart. Regardless of what was happening in his life, he met any challenge with the most enduring patience and courage as shown by his 38 years of sobriety. He was a humble man of few words who was modest about his own accomplishments, yet he always spoke with great pride of his beloved children and grandchildren. He embraced life with simplicity!

A funeral mass will be held at Église St. Pierre, Chéticamp, on Friday January 7th, 2022 at 10:30am with Father Pierre Antoine St. Cyr officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions, family and invited guests only. Masks are mandatory and proof of vaccination will be required. Donations can be made to the Sacred Heart Hospital Charitable Foundation.
