Joseph Armand Fiset

Age 68, Petit Etang, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp. Armand was a son of the late Pierre and the late Josephine (Doucet) Fiset.

Armand was a fisherman most of his life, having started fishing with his father after high school. Later in life, he and his brother became the owners of the crab boat “Helene-Pierre”, from which he retired in 2004.

After retiring, Armand loved to go trout fishing in the Bras D’or lakes and camping in Whycocomagh and Baddeck. This, however, became too much after he broke his hip in 2016.

Spending time with his grandkids was the highlight of his life. He also rarely said no to a good game of 200. Watching his beloved Montreal Canadiens became his Saturday night ritual.

A man of few words, he was a very private person, and often said, “A man will never get in trouble for not saying enough!”

Besides his wife, Annette (LeBlanc) Fiset, he is survived by his son, Donald (Mireille); daughter, Nadine; brothers, Wilfred (Freda), and Roderick (Patricia); grandchildren, Sebastien and Mélanie. He was predeceased by his brothers, Aurel and Jean Pierre.

There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 10:30 am in l’Église St. Pierre, Cheticamp with Father Pierre Antoine St. Cyr officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Donations may be made to Diabetes Association of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.

  11. Roughly 21 years ago I was vacationing with my daughter Kalie in Cheticamp. It was about 1:00 o’clock in the morning and a boat from Caraquette was docking at La Digue. I said goodbye to my friend Andre Deveux (a Charlie a Usebe) who I had stopped by to say hello to. He had been called out to unload the boat of its contents. Walking back to my car in the dark these two men from the docked boat came towards my daughter and I and , “Hey can you slow down?” It was Aurel and Armand who had recognized me and wanted to say hello. It was so nice for them to have gone out of their way to do that. It was the last time I would see both of my childhood friends.

Sincere condoleances a toutes la famille.
