It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marguerite Rose Delvina (LeBlanc) Bourgeois at the age of 99. Mom left us on the 1st of February, 2023. She was a resident of Foyer Père Fiset in Chéticamp. Wife of Alexandre Bourgeois and daughter of Philippe LeBlanc and Anastasie Poirier. She is survived by Ronald Bourgeois (Jane Bate-Bourgeois). She is the last of the Ph’lip à Joe de Magré (John, Léo, Edmond, Elizabeth, Wilfred, Antoinette, Antoinette, Lorette, Alex, Joseph, Charlie, Rita).
As a young girl, Mom was passionate about salmon fishing, cooking, sewing and music. She accompanied on guitar, her brother Charlie, who played the fiddle at various dances in the Margaree area. She taught me my first guitar chords and was an unending source of inspiration.
She followed her passion for cooking to New Jersey and New York where for several years she was cook for a well-known New Jersey family. With her husband Alex, they founded the Harbour Restaurant in Chéticamp and owned it for several years. She was also one of the founders and chef of the restaurant “La Coopérative artisanale de Chéticamp”.
An avid seamstress, she was a salesclerk (fabrics, patterns) at “Willie à Charles” and later shared her passion for sewing with others, by offering adult evening courses at NDA school. Volunteering was always an important aspect of her life. Mom was a member of a dynamic group of ladies, who for years, provided wedding feasts at the parish hall “Le Centre Acadien”. Mom believed in giving back to her community and was proud of her participation in various groups such as the Ladies Auxiliary, “Les dames de Sainte-Anne” and “Le p’tit Woolco”. She loved playing cards (deux cents and bridge), cooking and entertaining. She could prepare a feast in record time, make every visit an event, and guess the cards “in your hand” after one pass.
As the youngest of the family, mom cared deeply for her brothers and sisters, nieces, and nephews. Her heart was as big as her smile and her love as deep as her brilliant blue eyes.
Jane and I would like to thank her many friends, family members, the entire team at Foyer Père Fiset for the love, care and support you have given to her over the years. In the spirit of volunteerism and the great faith that mom held dear, we ask that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to “Paroisse St. Pierre” for the maintenance of our community church, “Église Saint-Pierre”.
Cremation has already taken place. Funeral mass will be held in May 2023.

Dear Ronnie and Jane:
We extend to you our most blessed condolences. Tante Marguerite was a very dear lady and I loved her very much. I’m so glad that I saw her last summer. She held my hand almost the entire visit, as I’m only in Chéticamp once a year. She’s now in total peace, no pain. God bless her, and God bless you too.
Your cousin who loves you,
Louise Boudreau
