Raymond Lester Fraser

On December 23, 2022, after 93 years of enjoying life on earth, our beloved dad Raymond Lester Fraser left us to be united with his beloved wife Sandra of over 60 years. Dad was an icon in the village of Pleasant Bay where he was born on April 15, 1929, to Rita Timmons and David Fraser. He built his home in Pleasant Bay where he raised his three children Walter (Doris) Fraser, Ricky (Paulette) Fraser, and Juanita (Wayne) Camus. He was a self-taught carpenter, electrician, plumber, heavy equipment operator, and fisherman.

Dad’s infectious smile, honesty, and eagerness to help everyone did not go unnoticed in the community. He was always there to quietly lend a hand whether you asked for it or not. He was passionate about the land and what he could reap from it. He loved his ATV and snowmobile, and he would spend as much time as he could enjoying the outdoors. Dad cherished his grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Travis, Brent, Mandy, Craig, and Jenna, and he loved spending time laughing and being entertained by his many great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Alex (Mary Hope) Fraser, and his sister, Dorothy Timmons. He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra, his parents, Rita and David, and his brothers, Ralph Roderick and Ralph Joseph.

Our family is forever grateful to his family at the Foyer Père Fiset where he resided during the past three years. We cannot thank the staff enough for their devotion to giving our dad the best possible care and dignity in his final days.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2nd, 2023, from 1 to 2pm followed by funeral service in St. Andrew’s United Church, Pleasant Bay with Rev. Peter Rioux officiating. Burial in Pleasant Bay Cemetery. Donations in Lester’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or St. Andrew’s United Church.
