  • Lina Yvonne Gaudet

    Lina Yvonne Gaudet

Age 92, Cheticamp, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Foyer Père Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Julitte (Delaney) Gaudet.

Lina entered the teaching profession at a young age. She taught in 2 or 3 room schools in Margaree, Plateau, and Petit Étang. Her career ended abruptly when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the tender age of 24. Lina and her sisters were wonderful hostesses who loved receiving friends, neighbors, and visitors, from away, at their home in St. Joseph du Moine. They especially enjoyed visits of children and babies. Many people have fond memories of visiting the Gaudet sisters when growing up, and always receiving a treat, often milk and cookies. They cherished the close friendship they had with the LeBlanc sisters, Julia, Eileen, Elizabeth, Marie Hilda, and Dianne, who lived across the road and were always ready to assist and support them. A special thanks to everyone who helped Lina and her sisters over the years. Merci!

Lina was the longest living resident of Foyer Père Fiset. She was admitted on December 26, 1994. Thanks to all past and present employees for the loving care Lina received during her 27 years as a resident. Lina was the last remaining member of her immediate family, so consequently, the Foyer employees became her family. She had a beautiful smile that lit up her surroundings when someone walked into her room. She was extremely grateful for the care and attention she received. She loved music and other Foyer activities and appreciated all the volunteers who brought joy into her life. She was a woman of great faith, who accepted her disability with calmness and dignity.

Lina was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Denis and Albert Gaudet; sisters, Jeannette Giroux, Marie Cecile Cormier, and Zabine Gaudet.

A graveside service will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, St. Joseph du Moine, at a later date. Donations may be made to Foyer Père Fiset.
