“Sandra” Juanita Fraser
It is with profound sadness that the family of Sandra Fraser, age 82 of Petit Etang, formerly of Pleasant Bay announce her passing on June 9, 2018 in Sacred Heart Community Health Center, Cheticamp. Born in Pleasant Bay, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Christie (Fraser) Moore. Her strong commitment to the community of Pleasant Bay and her contributions through all her volunteer work will be missed immensely. Sandra’s love and devotion to her family and friends was infinite and she sparkled with joy upon the visits of her great-grandchildren. Her kitchen was always welcoming with the wonderful aroma of her fresh baked goods. She always enjoyed and took the time to have a good chat with family and friends. Monique LeLièvre
It is with a sad heart that we announce the death of our loving sister which occurred suddenly on Friday, May 25th, 2018 at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre. Born on April 23rd, 1955 she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Gladys (Deveau) Lelièvre. Our special needs sister was a very affectionate and loving person. Next to the love she had for her family, her love of music was what made Monique the happiest wherever she lived; from the family home, to Mary Hills Home in Mabou, to La Maison Rodrigue and finally to her last residence at Le Foyer Père Fiset for the last 8 years.
Monique is survived by sister Yolande Aucoin, her brother Chester (Bessie) LeLièvre; nieces Velda, Chesca, Lynn, nephew Vernon. She also leaves behind her friends at Foyer Père Fiset and at CARES workshop where she received great care and affection from the staff who were so considerate and loving. All our thanks and good wishes are sent to them. Besides her parents, Monique was predeceased by her brother-in-law Wilfred Aucoin. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our mother Lucie. With family by her side, she left peacefully on March 24, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in Chéticamp, Nova Scotia at the age of 64.
Spouse of the late David Chikoski. Cherished mother of Manon Cuthbertson (Jamie) and Margaret Matthews (Joss). Proud grandma of Natalie and James Cuthbertson; the late Mattea Matthews;Jada, Eve, Joss and James Matthews-Vuotilainen.
She was a dear sister of the late Gerard Duplin (late Colleen); late Paul Duplin (Emily);late Lise Paquette (Elphege); late Diane Treberg (late Henry); André Duplin (late Ruby);Guy Duplin (Germaine);Christiane Turmel (Laurent); late Francine Turmel (Gerard); and Raymond Duplin (Michelle). She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.She is predeceased by her parents Laurent and EléonoreDuplin.

Olive Marie Poirier
Age 85, of Chéticamp passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Foyer Père Fiset. Born in Chéticamp, she was the daughter of the late Pierre (Pit) Poirier and Hélène Aucoin.
Olive was an avid bingo player. She enjoyed listening to the music of many local musicians. She will be remembered for her generosity towards her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took much pride in her family. We wishes to thank the staff of Foyer Père Fiset for their compassionate care over the years.

Joseph Hubert Aucoin
Age 73. It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Hubert Aucoin of Chéticamp on March 12, 2018 in Lantana, Fla. He was the son of Emily Burns and the late Henri (a Mose) Aucoin. Joe was an honorable husband, father and grandfather. Upon leaving Chéticamp, he made Ontario his home for 15 years, where he was well-known as a favored boss to many staff throughout the Royal Bank. After 20 years of service, Joe took to his favorite place…in the sun. As an avid walker at his Florida home, he was known to many and always had a joke or comment for all those he met during his daily walks. Being punctual was innate to Joe; you could be assured to find him at four o’clock sharp for happy hour with family and friends, no matter where he was. Joe was a devout Catholic and practiced his faith in every aspect of his life; he was known for his generosity of his time and money. He was dedicated to his family, whom he loved and cherished. Joe was liked by all and always ready to help anyone in need. He was a real presence for those who knew him and loved to help others expecting nothing in return. Besides his mother, Joe is survived by his fiancée, Johanne Delaney; his daughter, Lisa (Jason) Blackwell; and his grand-children, Bryanna, Korall and MacKenzie. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Carmella; sons, Roger and Gregory; nephew, Rickey. He will be forever missed by his brothers, Louis Paul (Patricia), Chéticamp; André (Estelle), Shediac, N.B.; and his sister, Noella Chiasson, Chéticamp. Beatrice H. Desveaux
89….It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Beatrice Desveaux, February 23, 2018 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax. She was born in Grand Etang, Inverness Co., on August 18, 1928 to the late Johnny and Laura (Cormier) Aucoin. She was married to the love of her life Patrick (Packo) Joseph Desveaux for 48 years and was predeceased by him in 1998. Beatrice was a dedicated volunteer. She could be counted on to support community activities and organizations. Her love for music and storytelling was well known throughout the community and her passion to share these loves was never more evident than through her radio program (pot pourri) on CKJM which ran for 17 years. Throughout her life, she had many different occupations but to her the most important one was taking care of her family while raising her 7 children. She also welcomed numerous foster children into the family and she never met a stranger, only made new friends. Over the years, she worked as a teachers aid with special needs children and was instrumental in the formation of the Marguerite Gallant museum at the Trois Pignons in Cheticamp, N.S. and worked there as a guide for many years. She also wrote a book about her own children’s experiences with this kind and unique woman. Mom took great pride in getting older but never growing up. Beatrice is survived by children, Jeannine, Dartmouth, Harvey (Ann), Cheticamp, Elise (Richard), Moncton, Charles (Patricia), Halifax, Colette (Patrick), Lower Sackville, Emilie (Kirk), Coldbrook and Prescille (Laurie), Cheticamp. She took pride and joy in each new addition to her family especially her grandchildren Nicholas (Niki), Jacques (Samm), Pierre, Jonathan, Michelle, Victoria, Daniel and Jeremy as well as her great-grandchildren Alex and Will. She also leaves behind her sisters, Corinne Murdy, Jeanne Deveau, Laurel LeFort, Glenna Rainville; brothers, Victor and Maurice Aucoin. She was predeceased by brother Harvey Aucoin and sister Lea Caissie. The family would like to thank the staff of 7.4 Neurology at the QEII hospital for the care, comfort and dignity shown to Mom and the family during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place.
